For many in our community and around the KC metro, the holidays will be more difficult than usual because of COVID-19. Thousands are still without jobs or working reduced hours. It’s estimated that an additional 100,000 people in Harvesters’ 26-county service area are now at risk of hunger, including 1 in 4 children. Since March, Harvesters has been working hard to meet this increased need in our community and has distributed 10 million more pounds of food than they did at this time last year. The food is there but Harvesters needs volunteers to get it ready for those who are hungry!
BSCC will be helping to sort and pack food items at the Harvesters food storage facility on Saturday, January 30, from 1:00-3:00pm. Currently only volunteers 18 and over can serve to ensure the proper social distancing and masks requirements are met. We will carpool from the church 40 minutes before the serve time, or you can meet us at the Harvesters facilities at 3801 Topping Avenue in Kansas City, MO, 64129.
