H.E.R.O. = Helping Everyone Remember Orphans

Every year in January / February, men from Blue Springs Christian Church (and from around the U.S.) gather in South Texas and then travel across the border to serve children and adults in various orphanages. The goal is to express the love of God through Jesus Christ via a wide variety of serving projects and/or construction activities. Currently, Hero Makers is focusing on two children’s homes: Angels of God and Viva Esperanza near Matamoros, Mexico.

H.E.R.O. efforts include the building new facilities or the repair of / addition to existing structures; worshiping, interacting, and encouraging both Spanish-speaking and English-speaking people; distributing food or providing meals, and building relationships with residents of children’s homes. Except for a willing heart and a caring smile — no experience is necessary as novice workers are paired with trained / experienced men of all ages (18+) to serve in a wide variety of ways.

HERO Makers enables and inspires ordinary people to do extraordinary things through first-hand field experience aiding children at risk.  HERO Makers provides an opportunity for people to share with others the    experience of being a HERO through short-term missions; thereby, each HERO becomes a “HERO Maker” as well.

¨ To build the lives of short-term missionaries as they focus on serving others.

¨ To build homes, feeding centers, and other projects for orphans and children at risk.

¨ To establish and maintain long-term, supportive relationships with the missionaries and caregivers who serve the orphans and children day-to-day.

HERO Makers, a non-denominational Christian tax-exempt organization, is dedicated to providing multiple opportunities to be a HERO through short-term mission experiences serving orphans and children at risk, and providing a vehicle for each HERO to become a HERO maker by sharing the same principles and opportunities throughout their own sphere of influence.
