On The Move Projects

On the Move - Graphic - Words

One Body…Many Projects…On Mission!

Each spring and fall for the past six years, we have joined together as a church in going out into the community and sharing the love of Jesus by serving others in his name. These On the Move projects demonstrate that we are a church that is for the community—that in any and every way we can bless our community for the name and glory of Jesus, we’re in—we’re all for it! Often while working on these projects God will open up opportunities for us to pray with someone, to share our faith story or to invite others to worship with us.

From April 13 to 22, we will work together on nine different service projects. This year, signing up for On the Move is going electronic. Beginning March 25, you will have the opportunity to sign up on this web-page and on our mobile app. If you need assistance signing up, we will have people ready to assist in the Connection Point each Sunday starting March 25.

We are asking everyone to sign up initially for only one project. This will ensure an ample opportunity for our Easter guests to sign up for a project. One of the reasons we emphasize participation in On the Move is because of how it serves as on the job training for us in learning to be a light for Jesus in our daily lives. Our approach to these projects is the way we need to approach each day in looking for ways to share the love of Jesus in word and deed. Please pick out a project and join in as together we represent the love and compassion of Jesus to our community.

THE COMMUNITY CLOSET is a free clothing and personal necessities event held on our campus. The week of April 8, we will sort clothing, organize display tables and assist shoppers as needed.

HOPE HOUSE is a community partner that provides victims of domestic violence with shelter and comprehensive services. On April 21, we will help with painting, landscaping and maintenance.

RAINBOW CENTER is an organization that serves both children and adults with special education and developmental needs. On April 14, we will help with a special event at the Silverstein Eye
Centers Arena. On April 21, we will help with cleanup and maintenance.

SCHOOL LUNCHES: The week of April 16, we will thank the teachers and staff at Cordill-Mason Elementary School and Moreland Ridge Middle School by preparing and serving them lunch.

CITY PARKS: On April 21, we will serve our city by doing painting and cleanup work at one or more Blue Springs parks.

SALVATION ARMY: On April 14, we will serve this wonderful community partner by helping with cleanup at their Independence store.

CITY UNION MISSION is an organization that serves the hungry and homeless in the KC area. On April 21, we will serve dinner, interact with those who attend and then clean up afterward.

FOSTER PARENTS DAY OUT: On April 21, we will provide activities and lunch for foster children and the biological children of foster families. It will be a day full of fun and care while the parents get some time away.

CAR CARE CLINIC: On April 14, we will provide a free safety and maintenance checkup to those desiring assistance in identifying vehicle maintenance problems. Although this project is primarily geared toward single parents and senior adults, anyone with this need is welcome.
